Abstract

The district is an administrative level where citizens come in direct contact for various administrative acts and services. The adoption of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in governance has helped in evolving e-governance, an efficient, effective, objective, transparent and economic way of governance. The empirical study based on the information obtained from the e-Disha centre located in Gurgaon district of Haryana state lead to conclude that the centre has proved very useful for bringing transparency, efficiency and accountability in service delivery mechanism to a large extent. However, at the same time it has also been reported that the service delivery system is suffering from certain drawbacks and those are creating hurdle for the citizens in availing of services in an effective manner and calling for improvements.
