Abstract

We report a case of a 70-year-old man who suffers from pain in his left ankle. The patient reports a rat bite at the level of his ankle occurred 4 weeks before the onset of the symptomatology. The physical examination found a punctiform opening on the posterior side of the ankle with a purulent liquid at the digital expression (A). The X-ray did not show any signs of osteitis. The patient underwent surgical drainage, with bacteriological studies in favor of a Pasteurella Mutocida after culture, and was put on antibiotic based on protected amoxicillin for 4 weeks. The per-operative examination of the tendon did not find any significant lesions (B). The evolution was marked by the onset of tendon necrosis with a secondary rupture without signs of active infection, which prompted us to achieve the patient for tendon reconstruction by the Bosworth technique.
