Abstract
Serum therapy of botulism in human beings has not met with the success that has been obtained in the serum therapy of some other diseases such as diphtheria and tetanus. In severe cases of botulism the symptoms, after first appearing usually become progressively worse in a short time allowing only a brief interval in which to secure and administer antitoxin. The death of guinea-pigs and dogs from botulism has been delayed by giving artificial respiration 1 and by administering anesthetics.2
