Abstract

The activity of serum neutralizing (SN) antibodies in both resistant and susceptible line chickens was quantitated by SN tests in vitro cell cultures against JM virus. The levels of SN antibodies were higher in genetically resistant chickens than in susceptible ones after they were inoculated with JM strain of Marek’s disease virus at day-old. The relation between the production of SN antibodies and the resistance to Marek’s disease and oncogenicity was positively correlated.
