Abstract
Administration of pituitary growth hormone to 4 normal and to 1 depan-creatized dog produced a decrease in the lipid content of the serum and of the albumin-alphai lipoprotein fraction within the first 6 hours. After repeated daily injections of GH for 5 to 10 days, a progressive rise in the lipid content of this fraction took place and resulted, in some animals, in a marked hypercholesterolemia. No evidence of impairment of carbohydrate utilization was found in normal dogs, while fasting blood sugar and glycosuria increased in the diabetic animal. The possible significance of these findings is discussed.
