Abstract

Background and Aims: In clinical practice, serum creatinine is used to assess renal function. However, serum creatinine as a marker is not sensitive enough for evaluation of glomerular filtration rate. Chronic kidney disaase (CKD) is more common than it was previously thought and has been established as a major independent contributor to mortality. Given the above, formulas that assess creatinine clearance or glomerular filtration have been introduced in clinical practice. The aim of this research is to determine the difference in the assessment of renal function with serum creatinine in relation to the corrected Cockcroft-Gault formulas according to the Poggio reference values in patients with arterial hypertension.
