Abstract

Bisalbuminemia was discovered in two Hawaii-Japanese men during routine serum protein electrophoresis on cellulose acetate. Family studies showed that the albumin variant was transmitted as an autosomal codominant trait exactly like the alloalbuminemias in Europeans and American Indians. The subjects studied are the first cases of alloalbuminemia to be reported in Americans of Japanese ancestry.
