Abstract

A soluble antigen fluorescent antibody test was used for the serodiagnosis of tuberculosis in both human and nonhuman primates. This test method, when used with various serologically active isolates from mycobacteria, showed promise in detecting and measuring antibody concentration in serum. The test might be superior to the currently used intradermal tuberculin skin test. With further purification of the antigen, the soluble antigen fluorescent antibody test might be useful for identifying the specific stage of the disease and for appraising the efficacy of therapy.
