Abstract

Through digital transformation programs, companies seek to break new ground to guarantee their long-term stability. Companies try to somehow prepare their employees for novel, technologically-driven trends and highlight the effects of digitalization on their companies. Therefore, serious games seem to be a proper method to train employees’ skills in business-related contexts. This paper seeks to prove the need for a serious business game themed around digitalization and digital transformation by applying a qualitative research approach. Eight qualitative interviews with decision-makers in companies, universities and vocational schools were conducted in order to investigate whether such a serious game can achieve a learning effect and whether a digital transformation process can be depicted in a serious game. Data shows evidence for potential of a serious business game on digitalization and digital transformation.
