Abstract

The generalized series solution methods for nonseparable Hamiltonians proposed by Frost are investigated. It is shown that for the general case a solution is not possible without explicit evaluation of a minimum number of integrals. The B matrix method is shown to be equivalent to the use of the integral relations, J(f), developed in Hirschfelder's derivation of quantum-mechanical hypervirial theorems. The B matrix method is applied to vibrating H2+, HD+, and D2+.
