Abstract

This article reviews the concepts of conflict resolution and conflict management and provides an overview of the key antecedents and consequences of destructive and constructive conflict, its different types (task, relationship, and process), main conflict management styles, behaviors, and negotiation and mediation strategies. It also presents a historical overview of the theoretical models of conflict. The most commonly used conflict instruments are summarized in a table. The article ends with an analysis of two critical cases reflecting real-life applications with recommendations on how to address conflict situations effectively.
