Abstract

Acne keloidalis (AK) is a primary cicatricial alopecia which may have a negative impact on life quality. Tufted hairs were observed in 73% of patients with AK.1 We believe that removing tufted hairs is important because they are frequently associated with the destruction of follicular epithelium, which may induce chronic inflammation and extensive fibrosis.1 Good improvement by surgical excision of AK lesions with primary closure or second-intention healing has been reported.2 However, the multifocal and extensive papular lesions of tufted hairs in AK are hard to resect completely.
