Abstract
This report summarizes the activities of the Solar Energy Research Institute (SERI) Solar Energy Storage Program during its fourth year, FY 1982. This program provides supporting research and technology and systems analyses and assessments to the US Department of Energy (DOE) Thermal Energy Storage Program. In FY 1982, SERI researched direct-contact heat exchange, latent- and sensible-heat storage, and thermochemical energy storage and transport to reduce cost. Further analysis of thermal energy storage identified storage technologies worth developing. Surveys and assessments of thermal energy storage in solar applications were used to help coordinate DOE thermal storage programs.
