Abstract

The World Mental Health 2012 investigation in 17 nations found that around 1 out of 20 individuals detailed having a scene of depression in the earlier year. A recent World Health Assembly called on the World Health Organization (WHO) and its members to take action with the mental health action plan 2013-2020. The action plan looked into four objectives: (1) strengthen effective leadership and governance for mental health; (2) provide comprehensive, integrated and responsive mental health and social care services in community-based settings; (3) implement strategies for promotion and prevention in mental health; (4) strengthen information systems, evidence and research for mental health. The proponents looked into a social media model using technology as a solution to address objective 2 and 3 of WHO called SERENE. The study using needs analysis interview with experts in the field of psychology, implemented a website that allows posting your feelings anonymously, watching learning videos on depression, and have counseling via chat with a licensed psychologist along with information assessment about different types of depression. Finally, the system was tested using test script to random users in four categories: Engagement, Aesthetic, Functionality, and Information. The result of the test was generally Excellent.
