Abstract

This study was investigated to determine the effect of combined application of metam sodium 100 l/da and dazomet 40 kg/da with solarization against root-knot nematode in tomato. The trials were carried out in three different greenhouses in Adanalioglu – Yenitaskent of Mersin province in Turkey in 2014-2015. Dazomet was mixed into the soil and then beds were prepared, and was covered with plastic. The plots were saturated with drip irrigation before metam sodium was applied. Then, the fumigant of metam sodium was applied 2 days later with 10 tons/da water. In 2014 July, the solarization treatment combined with dazomet and metam sodium was effective against root-knot nematodes. The combined treatment of solarization and two fumigants was detected without any symptoms while control treatment showed 6.84 galling index in March 2015. The 40 kg/da dazomet and 100 l/da metam sodium in combination with solarization had less than 2 galling index at the end of the production season. While the control treatment showed mean galling index of 7.4, 7.9, and 7.6 at the same study respectively. Results showed that soil solarization to the beds combined with dazomet and metam sodium, resistant varieties are effective against root-knot nematodes in tomato in integrated approach.
