Abstract

Concurrent chemotherapy is the standard of care for locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Distant metastasis (DM) is the main pattern of failure in patients with this regimen. Results of the ongoing phase 3 trial in Asia comparing sequential to concurrent chemoradiation will define the role of induction chemotherapy in endemic areas. The purpose of this study was to examine the role of induction chemotherapy in non-endemic regions.
