Abstract

We describe new experiments on the sequential imbibition (capillary absorption) of the immiscible liquids n-decane and dimethylsulphoxide into dry concrete. A Sharp Front model is developed and experimental data are analysed in terms of this model. The model predicts a long-term asymptotic t1/2 behaviour and a new hybrid sorptivity property of the porous medium.
