Abstract

This chapter is concerned with the behavior of sequences X1,X2,…,Xn of random variables and the ways in which such sequences can converge. Some of the most important laws governing this convergence will be treated, and, in the process, it will be shown why the normal (Gaussian) distribution plays such an important role in probability theory and its applications.
