Abstract

The multibond coupling optimized heteronuclear multispin coherence proton-detected COSY (MC-HMP-COSY) NMR technique, which provides correlation between /sup 13/C's and protons that are not directly bonded but are coupled, has previously been applied to vitamin B/sub 12/, a peptide, trisaccharides, and a polysaccharide with a single repeating monomeric unit. The results of the application of the MC-HMP-COSY experiment to the assignments of the nonprotonated carbons of a DNA oligonucleotide, (d(TAGCGCTA))/sub 2/ are reported. The assignments obtained by MC-HMP-COSY are contrasted with the comparative assignments for the unprotonated carbons with complete agreement being noted. 19 references, 2 figures, 1 table.
