Abstract

In recent years, with the rapid development of offshore wind power generation technology, the distance of offshore wind power transmission is gradually increased, the complex environment brings new challenges to the large-scale offshore wind power transmission. The fractional frequency transmission is regarded as an effective way for long-distance offshore wind power transmission has received wide attention from researchers. As the core equipment of fractional frequency transmission, modular multilevel matrix converter (M3C) can realize large scale of AC-AC power conversion and has good control performance. This paper firstly introduced the topology and control structure of M3C converter for grid connection of offshore wind farms. Then, the sequence impedance model is built for the low-frequency side of M3C, with consideration of AC voltage control and current control. Finally, the correctness of impedance model is verified by the simulation based on electromagnetic transient model.
