Abstract

A 4-year-old boy was admitted to our hospital because of sudden-onset abdominal pain that lasted 5 hours. He had no prior history or signs of fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or currant-jelly stools. A physical examination revealed no rebounding tenderness or palpable abdominal mass. A standing plain film of the abdomen revealed no signs of intraperitoneal free air or intestinal obstruction. Intussusception was highly suspected because of the target sign over the right upper quadrant of the abdomen on ultrasonography.
