Abstract
ABSTRACT Oil production is very sensitive to disturbances on process plant and/or well installation. Identification problem in gas-lift wells involves mainly symbolic reasoning, since gas surface card provides important information but not all data required for decision making. A variety of well problems can occur with this system. Neural nets were used to developed SEPLANT, an expert system whose purpose is to support the intelligent control of gas-lift and process operation by helping operators in making the correct decisions in contingency situations, in an effort to avoid problems and production losses.
