Abstract

Abstract Several separative technologies for the removal of thorium isotopes from a waste nitric acid raffinate have been evaluated. The implications of interfering ions and the efficiency of thorium recovery are described. A comparison of the various techniques studied is reported with particular reference to: i. Secondary waste. ii. Scale-up. iii. Overall best practical environmental option.
