Abstract

AbstractA method of constructing road foundations, at present in the development stage, is to waterproof the soil by the aBdition of small quantities (I‐2″ of certain resins. Since these resins arc obtaincd chiefly from hard‐currency areas, work at the Road Research Laboratory has been directed towards finding substitute materials available in this country. In particular, attention has been directed to the orgnnic constituents of the alkaline black liquors obtained during paper pulp manufacture in this country.
