Abstract

1. The molecular-sieve capability of a zeolite is described with respect to the hydrocarbons of a dearomatized solid paraffin wax; conditions are selected to give sharp separation of n-paraffins from hydrocarbons of other structures. 2. By varying the wax/zeolite weight ratio, the n-paraffins present in the wax sample can be separated on the basis of molecule length. 3. A method is proposed for determining the normal-structure hydrocarbons in solid paraffin waxes by means of zeolite; this method may also be regarded as a method for recovering these hydrocarbons.
