Abstract

Polychlorinated phenols like tri-, tetra-, and pentachlorophenols are considered to be hazardous and carcinogenic. There is a constant search for methods of identifying them through a facile separation technique. A step in this direction was accomplished in the development of a simple carbonate buffer and cyclodextrin assisted capillary electrokinetic chromatographic method. The influence of β-CD concentration on the chlorophenol separations is reported and other experimental influential parameters discussed. Complete resolution within a convenient analytical time was the encouraging outcome of this study.
