Abstract

The separation of uranium from thorium, and the determination of these elements, even in the presence of more than ten times the amount of cerium III and lanthanum, can be readily accomplished by using 3-acetyl-4-hydroxycoumarin as complexing agent, because of the marked differences in the solubilities in ethanol of the complexes.
