Abstract

The role of sensory deprivation and sensory monotony in autoscopic illusion and autoscopic hallucination is discussed. Other factors—especially intrapsychic conflict—also seem to be involved. The relationships of these factors are considered, using Conrad'sThe Secret Sharer as a basis of reference.
