Abstract

Today’s motor vehicles are equipped with a multitude of sensors. These components convert physical input variables into electrical signals that are needed by the engine management's electronic control unit and by the safety and convenience systems for open and closed-loop control functions. This article by Infineon Technologies AG, Munich, provides an overview of the areas of application for micromechanical pressure sensors in cars, and it discusses future requirements and trends.
