Abstract

This paper presents a novel sensorless control strategy for high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor (HPMSM), which uses model reference adaptive system (MRAS) based on the power balance model. This method obtains active power (P) and reactive power (Q) through current in the d-q rotating coordinate system, constructing the power balance model as reference model and adjustable model of MRAS. The stability of the model is proved by Popov’s Hyperstability Theorem. The simulation results show that MRAS based on the power balance model can effectively get more accurate speed estimation and smaller position angle errors compared with MRAS based on the traditional model.
