Abstract

In this paper, an approach of Estimating Signal Parameter via Rotational Invariance Techniques (ESPRIT) under sensor gain-phase uncertainties errors is reprensented with the Direction Of Arrival (DOA) and the Direction Of Departure (DOD) is considered. The approximate expressions for the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of the ESPRIT DOA and DOD estimation under random sensor perturbations are derived as well. Solutions suggest that the ESPRIT algorithm can decouple the MIMO sonar system. Supposing that the gain errors and the phase errors are both micro variations, we can draw the conclusion that the errors produced by sensor gain and phase of the transmitting array affect the DOD estimation alone, and the errors produced by sensor gain and phase of the receiving array influence the DOA estimation, respectively. In order to evaluate the truth of the theory, several computer simulations are conducted in the end of the paper. Explicit simulation for the case of an ESPRIT array geometry with sources is shown at last. The results and analysis of the simulations demonstrate that derivation is correct.
