Abstract

The NiFe2O4/rGO nanocomposite was prepared by a simple impregnation method and its nanostructural and morphological properties were characterized using XRD, FTIR, FESEM and EDX. The gas sensors were constructed using pure NiFe2O4 and NiFe2O4/rGO composit e samples and their gas sensing properties were examined. The gas sensing performances of NiFe2O4/rGO nanocomposite was measured by chemicapative method. The measured sensitivity values are 1.3 and 1.7 for pure and composite samples, respectively. The measured response/recovery times of as-prepared NiFe2O4/rGO sample for 100 ppm of ammonia gas is 55 s and 40 s , respectively. The chemically reduced rGO shows promise as a supporting material for the advancement of next-generation low-power, portable ammonia sensors.
