Abstract

An expert decision support system has been developed in this paper for voltage control in a power system network. A centralized control strategy has been evolved to correct any deteriorating voltage condition in the network by suitably adjusting the P-V bus voltages, transformer taps and shunt capacitors/reactors. The appropriate control steps are chosen by the sensitivity of these control measures to the affected buses and their available control margin. The proposed methodology is compared with a decentralized method of Wagner et al. 2,3. The test result reveal that the proposed method is more accurate and requires less control steps compared with the decentralized method.
