Abstract

The sensitivity analysis of acoustic attenuation with environmental parameters is studied and the variation of transmission loss (TL) with environmental parameter variation is simulated and analysed for manoeuvring acoustic source in short range. An acoustic source is simulated to be manoeuvred around the receiver with varying speed and altitude. TL is estimated for a reference set of environmental parameters and sensitivity is further analysed with the variation of environmental parameters. It is concluded that due to the variation of environmental parameters the total TL does not get significantly affected for shorter distances. However, sensitivity increases with increase in frequency. The analysis gives insights into the contributions of variations in environmental parameters towards TL estimation using models and can be gainfully used in adjusting for or providing uncertainty bounds due to imperfect environmental parameter knowledge, for several kinds of analysis such as unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) motion parameter estimation.
