Abstract

The aim of the study is to determine favorable age periods for the development of endurance in schoolchildren aged 7-18 years. Methods: from September 15, 2022 to May 23, 2023, schoolchildren of grades 1-11 in the number of 1,215 children from a comprehensive school in the city of Kirov in Russia participated in the pedagogical study. The indicators were taken into account for 578 boys and 637 girls aged 7-18 who attended physical education classes at school but did not play sports. All students were engaged in physical education according to the standard program at school 3 times a week for 40 minutes. The level of endurance development in schoolchildren at the beginning and at the end of the study was determined by a 6-minute Cooper test. Excel and Biostatistica 2022 programs were used for statistical processing of the results. Results: after the end of the study, a significant increase in endurance indicators was revealed in boys from grades 2 and from grades 8 to 11, endurance data improved on average by 12-16% (p<0.05). In girls, a significant increase in endurance indicators was detected in grades 2, and from grades 9 to 11, the results in the Cooper test were 12-15% higher (p<0.05). Also, a high increase in endurance indicators was recorded in boys and girls in grades 4, 8% and 9%, respectively (p>0.05). Conclusions: according to the results of the study, we can say that a favorable period for the development of endurance in boys is the age of 8-9 years and from 14 to 18 years, and in girls 8-9 years and from 15 to 18 years. Also, a high manifestation of endurance indicators is observed at the age of 10-11 years in both boys and girls.
