Abstract

This paper is devoted to the sensing properties of split ring resonator (SRR). The response of SRR on finger touching of different areas of the structure was studied by simulation and experiment. The investigations depict an influence of a finger on the value of SRR resonances that can be explained by the changing of total capacitance value. The obtained results shown that the top side of the investigated SRR is very sensitive due to direct contact with metallic strips and the range of resonance moving is very wide (from 0.505 to 1.084 GHz). Instead, the acceptable resonance response was achieved for the interaction through a dielectric substrate where the value of resonance changing is from 0.909 to 1.074 GHz.
