Abstract
SYNOPSIS This paper presents a state-of-the-art study on sensible thermal storage options. Various thermal models for rockbed storage system are reviewed and relevant studies on the performances of rockbed storage systems are presented. It is found that the rockbed storage system is more suitable for solar space conditioning and the collection/storage option for solar energy applications. Further work on system parameters and a comparative assessment of the rockbed storage sytem should be carried out in this direction.
