Abstract

Problem: The constant and sustained exposition to high intensity levels of sound pressure can produce, in young people, auditory and extra-auditory adverse side effects.Objetive: To quantify, by using different audiological tests, the effects in the auditory sensitibity in young adults after academic journeys of musical assays. Methodology: descriptive study of transeccional court; population: young people without hearing pathology diagnosed, and meet 1. Age 18 to 30 years old 2. Belong to the music academic program from a university of the Colombian south western. 3. Exposure time to the music of at least one year 4. To play in a band 5. To play in two or more weekly essay of four or more hours per week. 6.To be exposed to music at least one hour daily. 7.All of the above. Results: 100% of subjects reported some auditory symptomatology that includesacuphenes (51%) and extra-auditory symptoms (86%). 89% of participants did not know their auditory status. All of them prefer do not use auditory protection and 34,6% of auditory fatigue. Conclusions: According with our results, and taking account the age of participants in the study, is necessary to develope programs for prevention of auditoryillnes in students and professor of music suggesting the use of auditory protection, moreover teaching activities to explain the risk of deteriorating of hearing to a continoussound pressure exposition.
