Abstract

Abstract The association between radiofrequency exposure (RF-EMF) and non-specific health complaints in electromagnetic hypersensitive (EHS) individuals was investigated in a prospective cohort study conducted between 2008 and 2009 in Switzerland. Exposure to environmental far-field RF-EMF sources was modelled and cordless and mobile phone use was also considered in the analyses. About 8% ( n = 130 ) of the study population declared to be EHS. Health disturbances were considerably more prevalent in the EHS group compared to the rest of the study population. However, we did not find evidence that health disturbances of EHS individuals were associated with RF-EMF exposure.
