Abstract

For almost two decades now, the question of better educational opportunity for black children has been the subject of continuing discussion and litigation. Beginning with the Brown vs. Topeka (Brown I) case of 1954 and continuing to the Equal Educational Opportunity bill of 1972, one can trace a series of court cases, laws, and pronouncements concerning educational opportunity and the implications of this concept for desegregation and integration.
