Abstract

Matrix elements of one-body rank-one tensor operators exhibit seniority selection rules between states of a nuclear ${j}^{n}$ configuration. These are given and their influence on $\ensuremath{\beta}$ decays and $M1$ transitions in the nuclear $1{f}_{\frac{7}{2}}$ shell is discussed.
