Seniority pay for GPs in England will be abolished in 2020 as part of a government drive to remove pay progression in the public sector. Under the 2014-15 GP contract, agreed last week by the BMA’s General Practitioners Committee and NHS Employers, seniority payments for GPs will cease on 31 March 2020.
