Abstract

Intellectual disability, known as Intellectual disability, is a form of Intellectual disability that affects a person's intellect, including genetic disorders such as down syndrome, autism, and other mental and intellectual conditions that tend to be late due to certain factors. Due to the need to improve brain and physical performance, people with Intellectual disability are advised to get art therapy which is able to help people with Intellectual disability not get easily anxious or experience stress due to boredom and distraction from the surrounding environment, as well as offering activities for people with Intellectual disability to be occupied with. Art therapy is able to help children with Intellectual disability to optimize their cognitive function and motor skills which tend to be weaker than most children of their age. Apart from that, through the method of art in the visual realm; such as games to recognize shapes and colors through drawing activities, the cognitive abilities of children with Intellectual disability can be measured through the images they produce, so that the influence of visual arts on the cognitive functions of children with Intellectual disability becomes very close. Through experience, understanding, and processes that are experienced and obtained by children with Intellectual disability, their cognitive function, mental health, and intellectual level can develop slowly so as not to overly hinder their activities and social interactions in society
