Abstract

NURSES MAKE a profound difference in the lives and well-being of patients and their families. This influence occurs on a patient-to-patient basis, but also more globally in the communities where nurses live and practice. The extension of nursing expertise to the political arena, where nurses serve in political office, is a great example of nursing service for the community.
