Abstract
The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) has not missed a chance to promote the Modernizing Opioid Treatment Access Act (M‐OTAA) that would allow office‐based physicians to prescribe methadone for opioid use disorder (OUD). Only opioid treatment programs (OTPs) can prescribe and dispense methadone for OUD, and pharmacies are not allowed to dispense. (OTPs are not opposed to pharmacies dispensing methadone, but they are opposed to office‐based physicians prescribing it.) For more on M‐OTAA, see https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/adaw.33716.
