Abstract

The analysis of semi-volatile organic compounds in hazardous waste samples for the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency's Superfund Program is done by selected contractor laboratories using methods specified in the EPA Invitation for Bid document WA-85-J664. The Contract Laboratory Program maintains a data base containing information on precision and accuracy for matrix and surrogate spiking of samples. In addition, pre-award and quarterly blind quality assurance sample results yield data for precision and accuracy. The precision, expressed as relative standard deviation varies from 16% to 42% while the bias ranges from −59% to +12%.
