Abstract

Low energy phonons are strongly confined in semiconductor acoustic microcavities. They dominate the Raman spectrum when the acoustic device is included in a photon-phonon coupled cavity. We discuss the study of phonon cavities by picosecond acoustics and present preliminary results on GaAs/AlAs distributed Bragg reflectors. (© 2004 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
