Abstract

The intrinsic semiconducting nature of bilayer lipid membrane (BLM) of oxidized cholesterol gets modified to an extrinsic one when electron acceptors/donors are present in the bathing solution. We have measured the values of band gap energy, E g of BLM in aqueous solution of electron donors, acridine and bipyridyl and estimated the charge carrier concentration in these cases.
