Abstract

The calculation of diamagnetic Rydberg eigenfunctions described in paper I [Phys. Rev. A 45, 4776 (1992)] has been extended to radial distances of 1600 a.u. for a 5-T field, thus affording a far more detailed view of the nonperturbative evolution of each channel. Particularly notable is the emergence of an approximate block diagonalisation of the reaction matrix K ll' (r), which illustrates the sequential isolation of eigenvectors localised along and across the magnetic field (Landau and quasi-Landau states). This evolution is viewed as a prototype for many-body processes
