Abstract

Exact expressions are derived for the transient currents that flow to electrodes having the geometries of a wedge or groove, under conditions of concentration polarization governed by semi‐infinite diffusion for selected values of the dihedral angle. The distribution of concentration in the vicinity of the electrodes is also provided by the treatment. The results are applied to a variety of electrode shapes: the corrugated sheet, polygonal rods and tubes, the cube, and other polyhedral electrodes, including the “flag” electrode. Some of these shapes are more easily fabricated than the more idealized electrode shapes to which solutions have hitherto been restricted.
